FAQ

Do you offer a design service?

We specialise in high-quality printing rather than graphic design. If your needs are simple then I am sure we can help or if you have a completed design file, we can ensure it’s print-ready and give guidance on all of the technical aspects to ensure that your job prints the way you imagined. If you need design assistance, we’re happy to recommend trusted graphic designers who can help bring your idea to life!

How do I prepare my design for print?

Please take a look at our guide to setting up files for print

What file formats do you accept?

We use Coreldraw for all of our in-house graphic work and whilst we prefer to receive vector artwork in a .pdf, .ai or .eps format, we can accept artwork in almost any format. Send us what you can and we will take a look. If the artwork you provide is poor quality, we may not be able to use it, or your print could look pixelated or blurry. We're happy to help re-creating some artwork in a suitable format, but please speak to us directly about this.

Do you offer a proofing service?

For all orders using new print files we will send you a PDF proof for you to check and approve. For repeat orders, please contact us and we can explain the options.

What is the turn around time?

This can vary greatly depending on the nature of the print run. If the job is simple and is a straight repeat of something we have produced before then it may only be 1 or 2 days but if it is a complex new project then it can take 1-2 weeks. We can give you an approximate leadtime when you place you enquiry or order.

What is the minimum order?

We do not have a minimum order quantity but rather a minimum order value. The minimum order value will vary depending on the type of print you are looking for. Just let us know the approximate range of quantities you are looking for and we can give you a range of prices.

Do I need an account to order print?

You do not need to create an account yourself, as we will create one for you when you place your enquiry or first order.

Can I print labels using Word or Excel?

Yes - we would suggest reaching out to your software supplier for advice on how to do this. You will need to purchase plain labels in either rolls or sheets and we can offer an extensive range of sizes and materials.

I am a broker, can I use your services?

Absolutely you can. We have a very diverse range of trade customers ranging from one man operations to multi-million pound commercial print operations.

I do not know what material I need – can you help?

We can help. Contact us to discuss your application and we can recommend a suitable material.

How much do you charge for delivery?

All of our quotes include delivery using a standard courier next working day service.. We can also offer a timed or Saturday delivery at extra expense. Finished goods can be collected from our factory and the price of the job is reduced accordingly.

How do I pay for my order?

We do not take payment in advance. Once your job is complete we will email you with the invoice and a link to allow payment by credit/debit card via the secure Stripe online payment platform. If you wish to place regular orders, then, following a quick credit check, we can open a credit account for you. Our terms are that invoices become due 30 days after the date of the invoice and we expect invoices to have been paid at the latest by 30 days after the end of the month in which they are raised.

I do not really know what I want – can you help?

We have been producing print for over 40 years and have extensive experience. Contact us and let us know what you are trying to achieve. We are always ready to talk and if a print related solution exists then we are quite happy to give our advice.

When selecting printed products, consider:

  • Purpose: Is the print for marketing, information, or packaging?
  • Target audience: What tone and style will resonate best?
  • Quantity and budget: How many do you need, and what’s your price point?
  • Delivery format: How will the printed materials be distributed or displayed?
  • Sustainability: Eco-friendly papers, inks, and processes are increasingly important. ISIS Printing can offer recycled materials, or FSC-certified papers.

Labels and Stickers

What Are Labels and Stickers?

In the context of this guide, labels and stickers are generally synonymous: both refer to materials with an adhesive backing that can be applied to various surfaces. However, labels often refer to items that convey specific information, usually relating to the item to which they are stuck, while stickers can be more decorative or promotional. Both are commonly made from paper, plastic films, or synthetic materials and can be printed with text, images, graphics, barcodes and QRcodes.

What are labels and stickers made of?

They typically consist of three layers:

  1. Face material (paper, film, or synthetic)
  2. Adhesive layer (pressure-sensitive glue)
  3. Backing liner (usually a siliconised release paper)

When the label is applied, the backing liner is discarded, and the adhesive side sticks to the target surface.

How sticky are labels?

The performance of a label depends heavily on the type of adhesive used:

  • Permanent adhesives: Strong, long-lasting adhesion for products, shipping, and identification.
  • Removable adhesives: Allow labels to be peeled off without leaving residue (e.g., window stickers or promotional items).
  • High-tack adhesives: For rough or low-energy surfaces like plastics or wood.
  • Freezer adhesives: Designed for low-temperature environments, ideal for food storage and medical labs.

What shapes can my labels be?

Labels come in many standard shapes, including:

  • Rectangles and squares
  • Circles and ovals
  • Custom die-cut shapes

What finishes do you print on labels?

  • Matt: Subtle, non-reflective, ideal for handwriting.
  • Gloss: Shiny, enhances colour vibrancy.
  • Satin or semi-gloss: A balance between matt and gloss.

Lamination or varnish can add extra protection, making labels resistant to water, scratches, and fading.

What sort of printing do you use for labels?

Labels can be printed using various technologies, including:

  • Digital printing: Ideal for short runs and full-colour designs.
  • Flexographic printing: Cost-effective for large volumes and simple designs.
  • Thermal printing: Suitable for variable data like shipping labels and barcodes.

What environmental factors do I need to consider?

Sustainability has led to the development of eco-friendly label options:

  • Recyclable paper labels
  • Biodegradable and compostable labels
  • Recycled-content adhesives and liners

When choosing labels, it’s important to consider end-of-life disposal, recyclability, and potential environmental impact.
